The Cortisol Clinic

Your midlife symptoms are not inevitable.Your nervous system is calling for help.

Does this sound familiar?

You are exhausted in a way that sleep does not fix. The weight is creeping on, your hair is thinning, and you are reactive with the people you love the most. Underneath it all, you just don't feel like yourself and are lost for how to change it.

You have already tried: the books, the supplements, the diets, the lifestyle hacks. Nothing seems to work and you have started to accept this is just who you are now. It is not.

You are stuck in a biochemical feedback loop you don't know how to stop. Yet.

Here is what is actually happening.

Oestrogen acts as a natural brake on your body's stress response, reducing cortisol as perceived threat passes. The hormonal changes of perimenopause, experienced by 68% of women in this transitionary phase, remove that brake. Cortisol continues to rise. The brain receives high cortisol levels as ongoing threat and signals the body accordingly — and vice versa.

This biofeedback loop runs continuously between body and mind, beneath conscious thought, where willpower, strategy and discipline have no sway.

This is not a character flaw. It is a neuroendocrine event.

What this means for your body.

Common midlife symptoms arise.

Insulin Resistance

Chronically elevated cortisol signals the liver to continuously release glucose, giving the body the energy needed to fight or flee. Over time, cells become desensitised to the insulin produced to manage it. This causes energy crashes, sugar cravings and a metabolic environment that actively promotes fat storage.

Belly Fat

We have a higher concentration of cortisol receptors in abdominal fat cells, causing us to store fat there more quickly and release it more slowly than anywhere else in the body.

Inflammation

While cortisol normally acts as an anti-inflammatory by binding to immune cells, telling them to stand down, when levels are chronically high the receptors become desensitised and stop responding altogether. This produces systemic low-grade inflammation often manifesting as joint pain, brain fog, skin changes, digestive disruption and fatigue.

Thinning Hair

Thyroid function is often repressed, slowing metabolism and contributing to hair thinning.

Depleted Energy Levels and Broken Sleep

The natural cortisol rhythm that governs the sleep-wake cycle is disrupted, making deep restorative sleep increasingly elusive.

This biofeedback loop can be broken and symptoms reversed - when the nervous system feels safe enough to allow it to.

Why EFT works when other approaches have not.

Tapping on specific acupoints sends electrochemical signals through the peripheral nerves directly to the amygdala and prefrontal cortex, interrupting the stress feedback loop at its source. The vagus nerve receives the signal. The body understands, at a physiological level, that it is in fact safe. Cortisol release slows. The nervous system returns to baseline.

It works quickly, it works safely and it works when other treatments have not — because it does not ask the thinking mind to solve a problem beyond its remit, or the body to override its own survival strategy.

Progress is measurable: we track symptom intensity in real time within and between sessions, and monitor heart rate variability for those with wearables — offering a direct insight into how the nervous system is responding.

This work is designed to complement, not replace, allopathic medicine.

The Evidence.

24%

Cortisol reduction from EFT in a 2012 randomised controlled trial, compared to 14% in talk therapy and 0.6% in rest.

(Church, Yount and Brooks)

43%

Cortisol reduction in a single group session, replicated by Stapleton and colleagues in 2020 — the same delivery format as the Cortisol Clinic.

Sustained at two years.

A four-week online EFT programme for women aged 40 to 60 showed reductions in stress, cravings and body weight confirmed and maintained at a two-year follow-up.

HRV restored.

Heart rate variability — the measure of your nervous system's flexibility and resilience — improves significantly with EFT, confirmed in the Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine. Your body's ability to move between stress and safety is literally restored.

A 2025 review in Frontiers in Psychology, synthesising more than 200 clinical trials, confirmed measurable shifts in cortisol, immune function and gene expression. The body does not just feel better. It changes.

The Cortisol Clinic.

Four weeks. Eight women. Ninety minutes. Online and in person.

Week One — The Knowledge

We begin with the science. We must understand where we have lost our power in order to take it back. You will identify what your body has been doing and why, naming the habits that support you and those that do not, and leave with a simple daily practice to measurably reduce your symptoms before your second session.

Week Two — Bottom Up

Safety is not a mental decision. It is a somatic one. Using EFT, breathwork and nervous system regulation, we work directly with the body to reduce threat perception via the vagus nerve — putting the brakes on cortisol production in ways that last, bypassing the thinking mind entirely.

Week Three — Diving Deeper

The inner critic, the perfectionist, the people pleaser — these are not personality traits. They are patterns the nervous system learned in order to protect you, and they run in the background to keep cortisol elevated long after any external threat has passed. This week we begin to witness these connections clearly, and soothe them from the inside out.

Week Four — Integration

We close by assessing measurable change and integrating the parts that have been working so hard, for so long. Finally given permission to rest, you can experience safety that lasts. What follows is a clarity, a calm, a connection that most women have not felt in years.

You will leave with a practice that you know works and a blueprint to sustain the changes you feel.

A note from Anastasia.

Hello, I'm Anastasia.

Anastasia Griffith portrait

For two decades I worked as a leading actress in Hollywood and the UK, in award-winning television on both sides of the Atlantic. I appeared to be living the dream while running on a nervous system that never switched off.

I know what it is to perform strength while internally falling apart. To be capable, driven and successful, and still feel that something is fundamentally missing. To search for healing and wonder why change never sticks.

Since 2014 I have dedicated myself to understanding why — training as an EFT practitioner, studying interpersonal psychology and nervous system science, and working with women across the world, helping them find their way back to themselves. Not through strategies or willpower, but through the body, and through love.

The Cortisol Clinic is the distillation of everything I have learned, offered to a small group of women who are ready to stop managing their symptoms and start addressing their root cause.

The Founder's Cohort.

I am offering this first Cortisol Clinic at a founder's rate — £97 for four weeks — because I want the women in this room to be part of building something meaningful. You receive the full programme. In return, I ask for your honest feedback. Deal?

Eight spaces. Online and in person — if life intervenes, you don't miss out.

Are you ready to find out how good midlife can feel?

You have held so much for so long — nurturing those you love and always doing the right thing. And just as your children get older and responsibilities begin to wane, our culture tells us it must inevitably get harder — less pleasure, more pain. The science behind EFT says otherwise.

Done well, midlife can be an opportunity, not a curse — to release the patterns that have held us back, create more connection to self and finally step into the leading role of our own lives.

The only question is whether you are willing to take that next step.

I hope so.
